Purpose & Policies

1. To recognize and acknowledge alumni athletes, coaches and contributors for their outstanding athletic abilities and/or contributions to the proud tradition of Springfield Public Schools sports. Springfield Public Schools has a long and rich history in athletics that has brought honor and distinction to the Springfield Public Schools.

2. The Springfield Public Schools will induct new members into the Sports Hall of Fame every year. The induction ceremony will take place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at a site to be determined.

3. A permanent display has been established at each of the city’s high schools to maintain a record of the honorees’ accomplishments. This is a public display that serves to inform and educate the student body of the individual athletes, coaches and contributors who helped to establish and build the Springfield Public Schools’ sports tradition.

Because there have been some name changes for our high schools over the years, it was decided to match past schools with our present ones as follows:
